Our Motto:
The motto of Namaste Sanskrit Institute is “पाठनीयाऽधीतविद्या” : A principle that beautifully expresses our philosophy of learning and teaching. अधीतविद्या means “knowledge that has been attained,” while पाठनीया means “should be imparted.” Together, it reminds us that knowledge should first be sincerely acquired, understood and experienced before it is shared with others. Teaching, therefore, is not simply the act of passing on information; it is a responsibility that begins with authentic learning and deep understanding. This inspires our passion to learn Sanskrit deeply and make its language, knowledge and wisdom accessible to others.
The expression “पाठनीयाऽधीतविद्या” is drawn from Shreemad Satsangi Jeevanam, the monumental work of Shatanand Muni comprising 17,627 verses. It appears in Shlok 36 of Adhyaya 44 of the Fourth Prakaran, in the chapter popularly known as Shri Shikshapatri, highlighting one of the commands of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. We understand this teaching as a ज्ञान यज्ञ a continuous offering of knowledge from Guru to Shishya and, thereafter, from one learner to another.
Our Tagline:
“Nurturing the Roots of Culture Through Sanskrit” reflects our belief that strong roots help individuals and communities grow with a clear sense of identity, values and belonging. By the “roots of culture,” we mean the language, knowledge, stories, literature, traditions, values and wisdom passed down through generations. Sanskrit is an important part of these roots, as it gives us access to a vast body of texts and knowledge that has shaped Indian thought and culture.
We nurture these roots by making Sanskrit simple, joyful and relevant for today’s learners. Through age-appropriate courses, stories, shlokas, conversations, activities, texts and cultural learning, we help learners not only learn the language but also understand the values and wisdom behind it. We believe that when children and adults know where their roots come from, they can carry their heritage forward with greater understanding, confidence and pride: while remaining open to the world around them.
Our Inspiration:
Namaste Sanskrit Institute was inaugurated on 26 October 2022 by H.H. Sadguruvarya Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swamiji, President, SGVP and a distinguished scholar of Hindu scriptures and Vedanta, recipient of multiple gold medals, and alumnus of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi. A disciple of Sadguru Shastri Shree Dharmjivandasji, founder of Swaminarayan Gurukul, he has always inspired the propagation of Sanskrit, Sanskaras and the wisdom of our roots.The Institute carries forward this vision.
The founder, Dr. Namrata, feels blessed to learn Sanskrit under his आज्ञा and guidance and continues to pursue her passion for making Sanskrit and its knowledge simple, engaging and accessible to learners worldwide.
